Cookies are small text files sent by the WebSites to user’s terminal, where they are stored before being re-transmitted to the WebSites during user’s next visit. User may receive cookies from different sites or web servers (so-called "third party" cookies) on users’ terminal: this happens because the website may use elements such as, images, maps, sounds linked to web pages of other domains (for example social networks) that stay on different servers. In other words, these cookies - facilitating the sharing of site contents through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter - are set directly by managers of websites or servers other than those currently viewed.
