Multiple Decontamination Method Chamber
Steelco Decontamination Lock provides a comprehensive, validated solution for the decontamination of heat-sensitive equipment such as electronic devices to be introduced into a facility. Available as single door or double door pass-through versions, both in a full glass or stainless steel door version with glass window, the access doors are equipped with integral inflatable gaskets in order to grant the tightness of the chamber in SPF barrier facilities as well as during the decontamination cycles.
To perform a decontamination cycle, the unit can be provided with an onboard hydrogen peroxide vapor generator or can be connected to an external generator. The external generator can be of different vendors and users are free to choose the most appropriate process for their particular needs. As an alternative to the H2O2, Steelco Decontamination Lock can be connected to a chlorine dioxide generator.
The hydrogen peroxide H2O2 used to decontaminate the surfaces is distributed in the chamber in the form of vapor. The biocide present in the vapor phase has a homogeneous diffusion even in the most hidden interstices thanks to a dedicated ventilation system. This principle of vaporization/condensation has the advantage of concentrating the H2O2 in contact with the load’s surface granting great coverage and efficiency. Following this low-temperature treatment, the decontamination reaches the sterility assurance level (SAL) values equal to 10−6.
To assure full control of the process, the device is controlled by a PLC digital controller with a user-friendly color touch screen HMI.
D-PRO - On Board Hydrogen Peroxide Generator
Steelco D-PRO is a Hydrogen Peroxide dosing and vapor generator system manufactured to be fully integrated into the technical area of the main equipment sharing the same automation system (PLC and HMI). Through a thermal process the liquid hydrogen peroxide changes its status into gas and by micro condensation is mixed with filtered air and then introduced into the chamber. A precise load cell for H2O2 canister is provided in technical area or can be integrated in fascia panel with a dedicated drawer, easy accessible from loading side.
Fast and Safe Areation Phase
Once the biodecontamination process is complete, to reduce the concentration of H2O2 below the permitted set point, a fast aeration phase is performed by injection of fresh filterd air (HEPA filter with H14 ≥ 99.995% MPPS efficiency) into chamber, piping and on board generator. Steelco has developed two different high-speed aeration systems:
- Aeration by means of the centralized HVAC system, as standard
- Aeration by an in-line catalyzer able to render the sterilant harmless, available as option.
In all cases, sterilant is removed from the chamber to a safe level of less than 1ppm before the door gaskets are released and the unloading door is allowed to open.

Chamber entirely made of mirrored finished stainless steel AISI 316L resistant to all the chemical solution used for the decontamination process for long-term reliability and cleanliness.
Available with on board Hydrogen Peroxide generator or suitable for any type of existing external Generator available in the market.
The access doors are equipped with integral inflatable gaskets in order to grant the tightness of the chamber in SPF barrier facilities as well as during the decontamination cycles.
Full Decontamination of Electronic Devices
Changing station or IVC air handling units can be power supply during the decontamination cycle thanks to the IP 67 socket installed in chamber, granting full decontamination even in the inner parts of the device.
